I have posted quite a few apple recipes over the years, so I thought it would be fun to round them all up in one post. Here are some of my favorite apple recipes to inspire you during apple season. :)
One of my most recent posts was a wonderful recipe passed down to me from my grandma- Dutch Apple Cake with Dessert Sauce, this is a wonderful dessert for fall evenings.
One of my favorite old fashioned classic cakes is Applesauce Spice Cake, this was the first cake I learned to bake and a project of mine for my middle school Home Ec. class, it turns out great every time and the whole family loves it.
Most recently I made this Rustic Apple Cake with Maple Glaze, perfect with coffee or tea!
I love this recipe for soft old fashioned Apple Spice Cookies, this recipe was inspired by a recipe my grandma and great grandma used to bake.
These Norwegian Apple Squares have a delicious buttery rich base and a spiced apple filling. I make these every year, this easy recipe turns out delicious every time!
I found this recipe for Eve's Pudding years and years ago in a magazine, and it is one of my most favorite apple desserts, easy and absolutely delicious!
Of course a simple and delicious baked apple is always a welcome fall dessert in our home, either plane or served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce - yum!
Another simple and classic apple recipe is homemade apple sauce, I like to keep the apple pieces in chunks and add cinnamon, I love to serve homemade applesauce with pork chops or pork roast.
For a fancy luncheon or tea party Apple Cheddar Tea Sandwiches are easy to make and yummy!
I love Apple Slaw, this is a great side dish for lunches, picnics, or a holiday buffet, the apples give this slaw a sweet and tart kick and is one of my favorite slaws to make.
For a rustic fall dinner I love serving sausages over sauteed apples and onions, this is delicious served with baked sweet potatoes or winter squash.
Another fall favorite is a nice steaming crock pot full of warm mulled cider, I make this every year for my Halloween appetizer buffet open house. It is delicious topped with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel, everyone loves it and it makes the whole house smell absolutely delicious!
Every year I make a big batch of Apple Butter in the crock pot. Apple butter is delicious served over warm biscuits and muffins, or on toast at breakfast. The whole house will smell delicious while it is cooking away. :)
Last week I made this very yummy Apple Bread with a Browned Butter Glaze, everyone loved it, the little chunks of apple through the bread keep the bread moist and the the browned butter glaze is the perfect topping!
Lastly I will share my recipe for Classic Apple Crisp, growing up in the 70's and 80's I enjoyed, yes, enjoyed many a school lunch, back then our school had wonderful cooks who made wholesome well rounded meals, one of my favorite desserts was always the various fruit crisps and especially apple crisp, this recipe was inspired by that memory. I love apple crisp served with ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel syrup. Quintessential comfort food!
Hopefully this list has inspired you to pick up some apples from your farmer's market or local grocery store and have fun baking and cooking them up this fall!
